About the team

Welcome to the U17/18 Colts

Our Colts team is for boys who are aged 16 or 17 in September 2024. They can be in Sixth Form (year 12/13), college, doing apprenticeships or working.

We provide player development led rugby, played according to the Age Grade Rugby principles.

Players over 17 years old can also train and play senior rugby (not front row) if they are assessed and signed off by the ERCA qualified coach as safe to do so.

TRAINING TIME AND VENUE

Training takes place on Tuesday nights from 6pm – 7pm and Thursday nights from 6pm – 6.45pm at either the main club on Percy Road or our Kilnwick Park Site on Kilnwick Road Pocklington.

MATCHES

The team is entered into the Yorkshire RFU Colts League, matches take place on a Sunday afternoon, usually around 1pm. Matches are played against other teams in an environment where the focus is on development, enjoyment and participation. We reward the rugby union core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship and we guarantee that every player gets at least half a game.

COST

All new players are offered the opportunity to attend training sessions before making the decision to become a member. The club membership joining fee is £100 for the whole season (this is reduced for more than one child). Playing shirts are provided but you will need to purchase your own boots, socks, shorts and mouthguard.

Please contact the Team Manager if you wish to come along - we'd love to see you! The Colts team at Pocklington RUFC is an essential bridge between junior and senior rugby. It caters to players aged 17-18, helping them transition from youth rugby to the more demanding senior game. The Colts team focuses on refining technical skills, tactical understanding, and physical conditioning, preparing players for the step up to the senior squads. Many of the club's 1st and 2nd XV players have come through the Colts system, highlighting its importance in Pocklington's player development pathway.
